Modic™ is primarily used as a long-term corrosion protection material for water supply pipes. Modic™ is applied to the inner surface of steel pipes, followed by a PE coating, enhancing adhesion between the steel pipe and the PE coating.
This contributes to the long-term supply of safe and hygienic water and extends the service life of piping systems, making it an essential material for infrastructure maintenance.

Q&A
Q1. What role do steel pipe coatings and adhesion to steel play?
A. Steel pipe coating plays a crucial role in protecting steel pipes used underground or underwater from corrosion and galvanic corrosion, thereby extending their service life. In particular, for water supply pipes, gas pipes, and sewer pipes, corrosion protection and durability are directly linked to the reliability of social infrastructure.
Q2. What are the advantages of Modic™ compared to regular polyethylene (PE)?
A. Modic™ is a specially modified PE (polyethylene) material that offers significantly improved adhesion to and retention on steel pipe surfaces. It reduces coating delamination, which can be an issue with conventional PE, and provides excellent water-resistant adhesion even in high-humidity environments. It also offers excellent impact and bending resistance, helping maintain long-term corrosion protection.
Q3.How do you use Modic™ for steel pipe coating applications?
A. Generally, after applying a rust-preventive treatment to the steel pipe surface, Modic™ is applied as an intermediate adhesive layer, and thena PEcoating is formed on top. This enhances the adhesion between the steel pipe and the PE coating, maintaining excellent corrosion protection performance over a long period of time. It is also compatible with processing methods such as extrusion and powder coating.
