Zelas™ AMP is ideal for medical devices that come into contact with blood, such as blood circuits and blood bags for cardiopulmonary bypass and dialysis, and vascular catheters, where the formation of blood clots caused by plasma protein adhesion is a concern. By adding Zelas™ AMP to substrates such as PVC, TPU, and TPE, and then extruding or injection molding them like ordinary thermoplastic resins, blood-compatible products can be created.
Zelas™ AMP

Feature
Q1. What kind of material is Zelas™ AMP?
A. Zelas™ AMP is a medical-grade compound that utilizes amphiphilic polymer technology, resulting in a novel resin with inherent antithrombotic and low protein adsorption properties. It allows for the creation of highly blood-compatible products simply by molding, without the need for conventional coatings.
Q2. How does Zelas™ AMP demonstrate blood compatibility?
A. The key is the layer of "intermediate water" that forms on the surface of the material. This water layer acts as a barrier, preventing platelets and proteins from directly adhering to the surface, and is thought to suppress thrombus formation and adsorption.
Q3. What are the benefits of using Zelas™ AMP?
A. The main benefits are a simplified manufacturing process and cost savings. The coating process (application, drying, curing, etc.) is no longer necessary, which also reduces the risk of quality variations and coating failure. Furthermore, by preventing the adhesion of proteins, platelets, and bacteria, it helps improve the safety of medical devices.
